About Me

Practice Framework

Client-centred

Strengths-based

Solution-focused

Trauma-informed

I practice inclusive, collaborative and culturally capable social work compassionately, respectfully, and in a caring way. I never take it for granted when I hear a person's story; I appreciate how difficult it can be to open up and trust someone with your vulnerability.

How I will work with you is simple:

Since you are at the core of our work together, I will help you identify and build on your strengths, even when you feel you are not strong. We will work on your issues together and come up with a solution that you want to live with. I will be supportive and kind, yet I will ask you to reach into yourself to find new ways of seeing, being, doing, and thinking so you can live a meaningful life for yourself.

In my previous eperience working with domestic violence survivors, I showed compassion, respect, and care by listening empathetically, validating their feelings, and providing them with resources and referrals.

In a recent mediation between parents who had a conflict over contact arrangements, I maintained my neutrality by refraining from giving any advice or opinions, and focusing on facilitating the dialogue between them. Therefore, I create a safe and respectful environment where each party can express their issues and needs without fear of judgement or criticism.

Interventions

I use a range of evidence based therapies that are proven to be effective in helping to quickly relieve the symptoms of anxiety and depression, grief and loss, behaviours of concern including but not limited to:

Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT): This is a type of psychotherapy that helps you identify and challenge negative thoughts and behaviours that contribute to your anxiety and depression. It also teaches you copig skills and strategies to manage yuor emotions an deal with stressful situations.

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT): This is a type of psychotherapy that combines CBT with mindfulness techniques, such as meditation, breathing exercises, and body awareness. It helps you become more aware of your thoughts and feelings, and accept them without judgement or reaction. It also help you prevent relapse of anxiety andd depression by reducing rumination an negative bias.

Experience

I have provided counselling to individuals, couples, and families with various mental health and relationship issues, using evidence-based therapies such as CBT and MBCT. For instance, in one case, I helped a client with severe anxiety and depression to identify and challenge their negative thoughts, cope with their emotions, and improve their self-esteem and well-being. As a result, the client reported a significant reduction in their symptoms and an increase in their life satisfaction.

As a COSP facilitator,  I have been complimented on not being judgemental when parents provided examples of their current parenting styles. It is important that participants are able to share information freely to enable the learning process.

I have experience in Support Coordination (NDIS), where I assist participants with disabilities to access and manage their NDIS plans, connect with service providers, and achieve their goals. As a pychosocial recovery coach, I use a recovery oriented approach to help participants with psychosocial disabliities to improve their well-being an achieve their recovery goals.
